An Inspirational woman...

Did you read Stylist this week? Finally a magazine for real women, who want to read interesting articles and be inspired by real people not the likes of Angelina Jolie or Kate Moss. Camilla Batmanghelidjh was interviewed in this weeks edition of Work Life in Stylist magazine which is free on the tube on Wednesdays. Camilla (pictured) is the founder of Kid's Company, a charity set up to help kids and young adults who are vunarable or facing difficult times. Not only does Camilla look like a work of art by Frida Kahlo (Camilla's portrait is currently my muse for AW10/11 colour palette!) she appears dedicated to the lives of others, she quite literally is the modern day Mother Earth! Read her 'day in the life of' online at www.stylist.co.uk and if you're feeling generous in the festive period then why not donate a few quid to Kid's Charity too.

Grow yerself a beard this Christmas...

'Bearded Ladies'

A selection of Kate Hazell cards for sale.

I LOVE the latest work from Illustrator Kate Hazell, 'Bearded Ladies'... who wants laser treatment when you can grow something this special! Keep up to date with her blog too for more day to day news. What a wild imagination she has. Kate is now selling cards, prints and her very own 'Chino' book at various galleries throughout the UK. Keep your beady eyes out for her!

Take a school trip...

Do you remember those school trips where 40 kids got piled onto a coach smelling of sweaty cheese and ham sandwiches wrapped in clingfilm? Well it's time to re-live the memories and take a trip to London's Science Museum. It's way more fun than I remembered even if I had to wade past a thousand school kids to get to the good stuff, it was definitely worth it! Get up to floor 4 and 5, it's firstly a lot quieter as the kids can't be bothered to go that far! On these floors you'll find Glimpses into Medical History, the Science of Art and Medicine and Veterinary History. You feel like you're on the set of Heartbeat and the pharmaceutical advertising is hilarious! I'm working on some dark twisted fairytale prints at the moment and this was just the ticket!
Don't worry, if the school trip idea fills you with horrible memories of being called four-eyes or fat-so then there's Science Lates, an adult only evening which is FREE and quite honestly a bloody good night out. There's a bar, lots of interactive experiments and occasionally a silent disco! And if you're single then it's definitely the place to go... there's just so much chemistry!

Tombes du Camion... Lots anciens et oubliés!

Fallen from the truck...

On my last visit to Paris I discovered Tombes du Camion , literally meaning 'fallen from the truck'. You can find this treasure trove of lost 1950's well, er, bits and bobs I guess by Metro Abbesses! It's definitely worth a visit next time you're on a romantic weekend away in the city of love. Here's a few pics I took, a totally random collection of oddities but you'll feel like a kid in a sweet shop in no time!
